Noavel Headstall

Use as a halter, training headstall, or as a bridle for riding or working your horse. Works on a bit-less training technique with an oval shape nose band that operates on a bump and release principle. It will not restrict a horse’s breathing and provides a sense of freedom, comfort, and calmness.

Basic Instructions For Use

  • NOAVEL HEADSTALL should be treated like a halter, until it has to be a corrective device.
  • Snaps on the end of the reins are a vital part of getting the attention of your horse or mule. The rattle works as a constant reminder.
  • The NOAVEL should sit halfway between the eyes and nostrils of the horse or mule.
  • When riding, the throat-latch should be tightened similar to your halter. For leading or trailer loading, loosen the throat-latch so the cross bar goes under the chin.
  • Perform 10-15 minutes of groundwork after putting the NOAVEL on. Turn your horse or mule right, left, bring to you and back up during your ground work to get them used to the headstall. We suggest a 15 foot rope to start. The NOAVEL works correctively by the bump and release principle. Always give the animal the option to do right before bumping them.
  • When asked to stop-pull back-if they do not respond, apply a quick bump and release. Take into consideration that the cross bar is several inches from the jaw and has to connect.
  • The quick bump and release is also your back-up.
  • The NOAVEL HEADSTALL is designed to bring the nose in and down so if the head goes too low, adjust the buckle on the cheek piece to bring it back up. This brings the balance carrying more on the poll.
  • For gaited horses with a head-shake, simply hold the slack in your reins. The collection takes the shake out of the NOAVEL.
