About the Authors

Dr. Simon Curtis is a farrier, author, lecturer, and hoof-care expert with a PhD in Equine Physiology and Biomechanics (2017). A fourth-generation farrier from Newmarket, he has lectured and demonstrated in 30+ countries and authored several farriery textbooks. He is a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Farriers, a member of the International Horseshoeing Hall of Fame (2005), and an Honorary Associate of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (2002). He received the Sir Colin Spedding Award in 2018.


Mark Trussler FWCF is a distinguished British farrier and Fellow of the Worshipful Company of Farriers (2016). Trained in Newmarket under Dr. Simon Curtis, he qualified in 2001 and built a long-standing practice in Lincolnshire. An active examiner for the WCF, he lectures internationally on balance, biomechanics, and farriery principles, and co-authored research with Simon Curtis in The Farriers Journal.


Jay Tovey FWCF has nearly three decades of experience, runs a busy practice in Bedfordshire, and achieved the FWCF in 2017. Founder of Farriery Tuition and a WCF examiner (EEG), he has judged major competitions and coached international farrier groups to a 100% pass rate in AWCF exams. Jay regularly travels as a clinician, speaker, and judge worldwide.
