WEIGHT CENTERED SHOE MODIFICATION PLATE "BUBBLE PADS"

When used on a properly applied horseshoe these can provide relief to a horse with arthritic or skeletal issues in the equine digit. It works by reducing leverage all around the hoof and allowing the horse options on how the foot is loaded. Improved vascularity is a frequent benefit of using this appliance. This plate allows the use of any steel horseshoe that may be required for the horses specific discipline, as the animal is often able to return to work. The chosen shoe will likely be able to function normally. There is no great loss of traction as some other full roller motion shoes may have. The permanently welded application is not recommended for use with open wounds in the sole or frog, but can be bolted on as a hospital plate.
The dome top is approx. 1/2" above the ground surface of the shoe.
Sold in a one pair package. Measures 5-1/2" x 5".

SUGGESTED APPLICATION TECHNIQUE

*First time use the horse may be a little cautious but usually they adapt quickly. With use the dome may collapse slightly but will still be effective*
The favored method of application is welding the plate to the shoe.
  1. Fit desired shoe to the hoof. For easier removal the shoe should be creased.
  2. Position the shoe on the plate with the pivot point in the desired place (usually with the dome centered on the COR) and trace around the inside of the shoe.
  3. If the shoe is concaved then cut outside the line to allow it to rest about half way down in the web. If the shoe is vertical on the inside then a more precise fit should be made on the plate.
  4. Weld it with good, strong tacks or a continuous bead.
  5. Use suitable packing under the plate.
